Rise Of Flight

Hello New Year!

The year 2008 is passing away and 2009 is coming now. We can say that 2008 was very fruitful for our company and especially for our game «Rise of Flight». We have shown you some key features of our game: our realistic model of aircraft damages, the huge map of the game world, the unique system of awards, special video series of our training campaign (Lesson 1; Lesson 2).

We have been communicating with our users worldwide:
  • by video references;
  • by participating at the world's largest game exhibition «Game Convention 2008» (Germany, Leipzig);
  • by participating at the largest in Russia and the CIS game exhibition «Igromir - 2008»;
  • we highlighted our game testing;
  • together we have celebrated 90-year-old anniversary of the First World War.
Many thanks to all people that have listened and read us, communicated with us, wrote comments for us in 2008.

According to Oriental calendar, 2009 is the year of a bull. For neoqb the next year (2009) is the year of USER, when our users will be able to take "Rise of Flight" in their hands and “feed” their PC's with it! This will be the year when we will «fight» for our USER!

This will probably be the BEST WW1 Aero game ever done. Or so we all eagerly waiting users think! The expectations are high! Keep up the good work!

Humm, will be ground operations conduct by players!!, something like Company of Herores concept...

stlkrash → 12/30/2008 9:15:26 PM #

I have just changed my cocpit set up. From a GoFlight rig for FSX to a WW1 gen pit, just for this game.  The posts just get better and better.  I see hanging FSX and Vatsim up for a while when this hits. I used an all wood and fabic type material.  Very simple to do and will make this even better.

Way cool! Anyone notice the grass swaying in the wind? How awesome it that!

Thanks for the update.

Kotrenin → 1/6/2009 5:51:01 PM #

This game looks beautiful.  Do you have a release date for North America, or will this game be for download and available to everybody at the same time?

"The year of the USER"

Sounds good to me.

I just hope it doesnt end up like Lighthouse's T34 vs Tiger. That is one big mistake.

How do we contact the devs. As a contributing 3d studio?

Tones of T34vs Tiger.  It died out overthere too. Now they are defunct.  I hope these guys haven't had the same fate.

Feedback is not dying!Smile Sorry for our long silence. We have too much work to do to make "Rise of Flight" better for you.

1) Thanks to all for good words about our game!

2) Kotrenin: about release date - our aim is to make "Rise of Flight" available to everybody at the same time all over the world.
3) stlkrash: T34vs Tiger is a tank simulator. "Rise of Flight" is the combat flight simulator. Ground operations help to recreate an ww1 atmosphere and to wide an ammount of different tasks for players. One important question to you: what do you dislike in T34 vs Tiger?

4)Toki (about your comment): if you talk about your strange comment about gas from Russia and Ukraine then we can explain that this blog is not about the political game, it is about our PC game Smile

P.S.: Some special "tasty" update on the next week. Thanks for you patience!

FlyXwire → 1/18/2009 1:07:14 PM #

Max, thank you very much for theses comments, and for the heads-up on the tasty update coming next week.

I was on the T34 vs Tiger beta testing team, and it was always apparent to me that the sim was rushed, and undeveloped.  Getting that game right would have taken a serious effort at reworking, which the designers (or their publishers) never seemed inclined to allow.  Having been involved in many WWI mod efforts over the past decade, and also contributing to three retail projects, the most important element in bringing a credible flight sim project to fruition in my mind, is having the time to do so, and having publishers that understand that first impressions on release are the most important part towards ensuring future success.  Although many of us have been following this project from the beginning, from the Gennadich Team days, let me say here how much we appreciate that NEOQB saw the promise that KOTS/ROF showed, and that your company saw the worthiness of investing in the project, in order to bring the sim the rest of the way, and hopefully to a celebrated release.

No doubt it's been hard for us to wait for info on ROF, as our expectations are very high now, and our hopes that the sim will stay appealing to us for years to come.  Naturally these expecations can often be at odds, because we want the sim to be finished, but not rushed and full of bugs.  Only NEOQB knows the time-table it has to work with, in order to include as much capability into the core product as possible, and we do hope you success in doing as much, with as little time as allowed, but that we urge you get it right the first time too.  These are often competing and demanding tasks obvisously.  Hopefully the add-on scheme planned will allow NEOQB and your business partners a way to make something on your time and money invested, and that this will allow both consumers and producers to maintain a healthy relationship centering around this new sim for many years to come.

So a Happy New Year to all of us!

stlkrash → 1/18/2009 8:05:18 PM #

Dont get me wrong your sim looks awsome.  My company is developing a Korean theater Sim. I am the Project Manager for it.  As far as T34. FlyXwire hit most points. The big killer for most was the statement it is multiplayer, and upon release there was none, it had the menu but nothing worked at all. It took the modder community to fix it to a somewhat playable status. Your company's sim looks A#1.

stlkrash → 1/18/2009 8:06:40 PM #

P.S. i think when this sim hits the shelves I will be having a pronlem keeping my guys working. LOL

FlyXwire → 1/18/2009 8:48:38 PM #

T34 vs Tiger's broken multiplayer feature was the failed promise of that game's recent release, and it was this feature that would have elivated the game to a "must-have" title, but with the developers and publishers being largely AWOL on delivering what they adverstised, the product is more scam than a fully developed tank sim with a funtioning multiplayer component IMO (and as stkrash has releated above).

The lesson learned is to never promise what you can't deliver, but to do as thoroughly well that which syou can.

I believe that NEOQB will be able deliver on their promise, but the buying public is fickle, and will turn on anything that claims to be more than it is.  That being said, let me quote an excerpt from the recent PC Pilot magazine interview with Albert Zhiltsov about Rise of Flight, and some of the planned multiplayer features for the sim (from issue No. 59, Jan-Feb 2009):

"Question by PC Pilot: Please tell us a little about the multiplayer mode and what form this will take?

AZ: Multiplayer mode will be co-operative.  That means there will be two or more teams in the game consisting of an attacking team and a defending side.  Naturally, they have opposing tasks and objectives.  A mission has to be accomplished within a time limit, but each destroyed target adds time to the mission timer.  The attacking team can try to fulfill additional tasks which will be activated after the destruction of the main target.  The mission is considered won if the main objective is accomplished and at least one pilot of the attacking team remains alive once the mission time has elapsed.  After that, teams change around.  The player will be able to set various parameters for the mission to suit their own personal preferences.  So you can create fast and intense missions, or ones that demand more thought and the use of tactics.  There will also be a system of awards, medals, and 'trophies'.  The latter, for example, could include receiving part of the aircraft destroyed by the player, such as the fabric covering, which was common practice during World War One.  A game server can be created by any user, but all the game information relating to results is registered on one central server.  On release, or shortly afterwards, selected servers, running under Windows and Linux, will be available, with missions rotated-depending on results."

What can we say......sounds really cool!

stlkrash → 1/18/2009 9:19:47 PM #

Yes Sir for sure.  I am more interested in user/studio made added content.  Will it be locked up like IL2?

FlyXwire → 1/18/2009 10:20:49 PM #

stkrash, you ought to e-mail Max or Albert on that for sure.  They've stated they want to promote quality add-on content, by modders and third-party developers, but the emphasis will be on quality control, as judged I'm sure by NEOQB for possible inclusion and promotion into the sim.

stlkrash → 1/19/2009 12:19:49 AM #

Our Studio is Razbam @ Razbam dot Org, there are plenty of examples of our work there. Our new Project Scorpion is also listed there.  I have sent emails to neoqb and all i have gotten back is the standard we will forward etc etc.  but i am sure the Dev's at some point will see them. So I am hoping to hear back from them at some point.

99th_Flyby → 1/19/2009 10:25:48 PM #

Salute! I hope the beta testing will involve a multiplayer scenario with may planes flying above a dynamic ground battle involving big guns and tanks, as well as "Archie" (flak) going off all over creation. My point is actually a worry that the requirement of a dual-core/2.8 ghz processor may be inadequate for such a task. So a report from such a beta test would be a welcome relief. Any chance the beta could also be run on a similar quad core processor? Quad core prices are dropping, and might be an affordable upgrade. Also, please test on a 64-bit OS as well.
I have a layman's understanding that combat flight sims are now considered to be more cpu rather than gpu limited.
Flyby out

How can I translate the russian blog to English or German. Babel fish can't translate it, or do I something wrong here?

FlyXwire → 1/20/2009 11:01:49 PM #

Dutch, if Babelfish doesn't do a direct URL translation of the page, just highlight the text with your mouse cursor, and then rt-click to <copy> the Russian text, then <paste> that into the Babelfish text box for translating.

dutch → 1/21/2009 5:42:28 PM #

FlyXwire, I know this methode, thanks anyway, but I was hooping for a complete translation not the copy/past thing. I looks to my there is more action on the Russian site so I want to check that.

FlyXwire → 1/21/2009 5:49:14 PM #

Oh ok. Smile

FlyXwire → 1/21/2009 6:05:04 PM #

Dutch, and everybody else that has access to a Russian translating utility, there's been a whole lot of ROF information discussed by LOFT on the Sukhoi.ru forum lately.

Be sure to read from forum page 54, starting at the following URL address:
